Clean-up costs of the accident that took place at the Heat and Power Plant β 3 (HPP-3) of Nornickel were estimated at 10 billion U.S. dollars as of July 2020. It took place in the Kayerkan district of Norilsk on May 29, 2020, when a damaged tank led to a spill of 20 thousand tons of diesel fuel. The reservoir #5, where the fuel spill happened, was built in 1985.
