Measured in total assets, TD Bank is the largest domestic bank in the country. Meanwhile, measured in market capitalization, its largest competitor – Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) – holds the leading position. While no Canadian bank ranks among the top 15 banks in the world by total assets, both Toronto-Dominion and RBC are to be found among the top 15 worldwide largest banks by market capitalization.

TD Bank offers Canadian retail banking, U.S. retail banking, wholesale banking, and corporate banking. Their largest revenue segment is domestic retail banking, followed by U.S. retail banking, while corporate banking is their smallest segment. More than half of the bank’s total revenues in 2021, which was around 42.7 billion Canadian dollars, came from Canadian retail banking, and around one fourth from U.S. retail banking. Within the Canadian retail banking segment, their personal banking businesses - which includes deposits, mortgages, consumer lending, credit cards and payments, and auto finance - generated the largest revenues.
