Top inbound travel markets in winter Austria 2022

The number of international overnight stays in Austria increased significantly in the winter season 2021/2022 over the previous year, following a sharp drop in 2020/2021 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, Germany was the leading inbound travel market in Austria, with over 20 million overnight stays between November 2021 and April 2022. While this figure stayed below the volume of overnight stays reported in 2019/2020, it almost caught up with pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, the Netherlands and Belgium followed on the ranking in 2021/2022, with around 5.6 million and 1.6 million overnight stays, respectively.
