The largest Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, has received some financial supports by the government. In 2011, a loan of some 200 million U.S. dollars was approved, whereas in 2013 and 2017 the industry was given grants of several million U.S. dollars. The grants were supported by the government's “Project Act Nollywood”, an investment aiming to gain better productions, distribution network, and capacity building.
