Italy: public spending on unemployment

Italy's public expenditure on unemployment accounted for 0.9 percent of the GDP in 2018. The public spending on unemployment includes compensation for unemployment, which covers redundancy payments from public funds and payment of pensions before the standard pensionable age. Between 2014 and 2017, the spending peaked in 2014. In Italy, the total social expenditure amounts to 28.2 percent of the country's GDP, some of the highest among the OECD countries.

This indicator is measured in percentage of GDP."
