Distribution of occupational pensioners in Italy 2019, by sector
As of 2019, people who worked in retail made up the largest group of pensioners in Italy. That year, 19.6 percent of all pensioners belonged to this sector of economic activity. Generally, the service sector, which includes retail, professional activities, services to businesses, education, healthcare workers, and other, held roughly 65 percent of the total share.
