As of October 2020, 23 percent of people surveyed in the European Union declared that they had used personal savings sooner than they had planned during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. Unsurprisingly, responses varied greatly in the different European countries. For instance, as little as 11 percent of respondents in Denmark indicated having used their personal savings sooner than they had planned. By contrast, 40 percent of Bulgarians admitted having done so.
