Internal and external R&D expenditure in the pharmaceutical industry Spain 2013-2021
In 2021, the Spanish pharmaceutical industry invested approximately 674.3 million euros in internal research and development projects within the companies. Additionally, the sector spent around 592.7 million euros on research contracts with external hospitals, universities, and other public and private institutions. That year, the pharmaceutical industry expenditure on R&D reached over 1.2 billion euros in the country.
