The residential sector experienced the largest emissions reductions in the United Kingdom in 2022, falling 16 percent year-on-year. This substantial reduction was primarily due to unusually mild weather throughout the year which reduced the demand for heating in buildings and cut gas use. High energy prices may have also played a part in these reductions, with homeowners lowering their energy use to save money.
