Brazil: restaurants and bars unable to cover costs 2021, by type

In May 2021, four out of five restaurant and bar owners or managers surveyed in Brazil said that they were struggling to pay federal taxes due to the COVID-19 impact on the foodservice sector. Nearly half of the entrepreneurs interviewed also claimed to be unable to pay salaries that month, whereas 43 percent owed the establishment's rent.
