
Brazil: in & out-of-home food spending index 2020
Throughout the entire 2020, Brazilian consumers' spending on food outside their homes declined. From October to December 2020, the out-of-home food consumption index stood at 81 points, 19 points less than the baseline (as of the first quarter of 2019) and 33 points lower than the index registered in the last quarter of 2019. In contrast, in-home food spending grew from 110 index points in the fourth quarter of 2019 to 130 points in the following year.
