The average asking rent for retail real estate in the United States increased steadily in the last decade. In the first quarter of 2023, the average square footage asking rent reached 22.95 U.S. dollars. Nevertheless, rents varied greatly in different regions in the U.S. The Western region of the country had the highest rent for shopping center space.
