Body mass index (BMI) distribution Russia

Four out of ten Russians aged 19 years and older had a body mass index (BMI) of 25 to 30, which corresponded to pre-obesity, according to a sample survey conducted in 2018. The BMI of the second-largest share of respondents was classified as normal, ranging between 18.5 and 25. The share of overweight population in the country was forecast to increase in the following years, reaching 63 percent in 2025.
