Population of Amsterdam 2000-2022, by sex
In 2022, a slight majority of the population of Amsterdam was female, with a population of 445,000, compared with 438,000 men. The population of each sex stayed almost the same compared to last year. As the population grew over the years, the composition of males to females stayed very similar throughout as there were always marginally more females than males living in Amsterdam. The male population in the year 2000 was 360,000, while the female population was 372,000.
