Barriers to usage of digital services in Kenya 2020, by gender
Cultural norms constituted the predominant barrier to the usage of digital services in Kenya as of 2020, according to a survey. Nearly 65 percent of the female respondents reported having less time than other family members to use digital. Among male respondents, 55 percent cited the same barrier. Additionally, 41 percent of women declared needing help to use digital services and devices, while 40 percent of men reported frequent power outages as obstacles. Lastly, 43 percent of female and 41 percent of male respondents stated not having access to stores to purchase devices.
