Anaemia prevalence among women of reproductive age in Latin America 2019, by country
In 2019, around 48 percent of women of reproductive age in Haiti had anaemia, the highest prevalence recorded in the Latin American region. Anaemia prevalence above 40 percent is considered severe by the World Health Organization (WHO). Other countries with high prevalence were the Dominican Republic, Bolivia, Venezuela and Paraguay, all of which recorded values above 22 percent. Anaemia is a blood disorder characterized by reduced red blood cells and haemoglobin concentrations.
