Auction houses based in Beijing contributed more than 76 percent of all art and antique auction sales in China, making the city by far the hub of mainland China's art and antique auction industry. Auction companies in the southern cities of Shanghai and Hangzhou both generated less than ten percent of auction sales in China, while other cities such as Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Tianjin had even lower figures.

Figures are for mainland China only, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan.
Hammer price is the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer to the buyer exclusive of any fees, taxes and buyer's premium.
In mainland China, companies holding cultural relic auctions must be centrally certified by the National Cultural Heritage Administration in Beijing. Permits are not granted to foreign auction houses.
