Daily screen time of youth in France in March 2022, by age

In the beginning of 2022, the "Centre national du livre" (CNL) launched a survery to examine the reading habits of the youth in France and to have a better understanding of their reading motivation or their lack of it. In this context, the respondents of the survey were also asked how many hours they are spending on a screen during a day - may it be smartphones, TV, tablets, computers or other screens. A share of 85 percent of the respondents aged 7 to 19 years old claimed to spend more than an hour on screen per day, compared to 80 percent of the 20 to 25 year olds alone who spend three and more hours of daily screen time. According to the source, the average screen time among the youth under 20 years old is also much lower with three hours and seven minutes, compared to five hours and 33 minutes among young adults.
