Japan: hydroelectricity FIT costs per kilowatt hour by capacity 2024

For fiscal year 2024, the FIT purchase price for hydroelectricity from plants with a generation capacity of less than 200 kilowatt was set at 34 Japanese yen per kilowatt hour. The FIT price was lowest for hydroelectricity of plants with a capacity of five thousand to 30 thousand kilowatt, at 16 yen. The price for five to 30 thousand kilowatt decreased in recent years, while the price for the other categories stayed the same.
The feed-in tariff (FIT) system is a national system under which the unit price of electricity is fixed by the country. It is designed to increase investments in renewable energy systems by providing price certainty and long term contracts to renewable energy producers.
