Supplementary notes

Figures for medical cannabis usage in Switzerland have been released only in the form of authorizations, which lasted for six months up until 2017, for a year from 2017 and for up to two years from 2021. As such, the decline in authorizations does not necessarily mean a decline in patient numbers. Until 2021, the Federal Office of Public Health was required to authorise the use of medical cannabis for every patient before starting treatment. This is no longer the case.
