U.S. women elected to state legislature in 2018 and 2022, by race and ethnicity
From 2018 to 2022, the number of women serving in state legislatures increased across all demographics. White women made the greatest numerical gains, increasing from 1,429 elected officials in 2018 to 1,680 in 2022. Middle Eastern/North African women saw an increase of over 200 percent, increasing from three elected officials in 2018 to 11 in 2022. Asian American/Pacific Islander women also saw an increase of 60 percent, with 77 state legislative officials in 2022.
