Cancer burden (DALY) attributable to alcohol use Australia 2018, by cancer type
In 2018, alcohol use was a leading attributable risk factor to the cancer burden in Australia, particularly liver cancer at 16,302 disability adjusted life years. That year, over 43,000 disability adjusted life years, or DALYs, were attributed to alcohol use. DALYs are used to measure the burden of a disease, or years of healthy life lost, by combining years of life lost with years of life lived with disability.
