Private health insurance distribution South Korea 2023, by household type
According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2023, around 90.2 percent of households held subscriptions to private health insurances. While the government's public health insurance program National Health Insurance covers the basics, it is popular to pay for additional private health insurance to receive more comprehensive coverage. Among low-income households, only about 38.4 percent held such subscriptions, amounting to a national average of roughly 75.1 percent.
