Private health insurance distribution South Korea 2021, by household type
According to a survey conducted in South Korea in 2021, around 91.7 percent of households held subscriptions to private health insurances. While the government's public health insurance program National Health Insurance covers the basics, it is popular to pay for additional private health insurance to receive more comprehensive coverage. Among low-income households, only around 44.3 percent held such subscriptions, amounting to a national average of around 78.6 percent.
