Russia: Android users' mobile payment method changes 2022

According to a survey conducted in April 2022, over 60 percent of Android users in Russia who had used Google Pay in the past switched to a physical bank card, while 35 percent began using cash to pay for their purchases. Over a third of respondents changed Google Pay for Mir Pay, a mobile payment system developed in Russia in 2019. In March 2022, Google suspended Google Pay in Russia, following the war in Ukraine that started earlier that year.
