The coal capacity across non-OECD countries is forecast at 547 GW by 2050, under a business-as-usual scenario. The full implementation of Glasgow pledges would see non-OECD countries' 2050 coal capacity fall to 282 GW. In contrast, in order to be in line with a scenario that limits global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, coal capacity in non-OECD countries would need to reach zero by 2050.
