Loans and advances to banks and customers by HSBC worldwide 2010-2021
HSBC Holdings plc had significantly more loans and advances to customers in its global portfolio than to other banks in 2021. Its inter-banking lending activities have slightly decreased during the past years. Nevertheless, the value of the loans to its customers was higher than a decade ago. As such, the overall lending assets of the London-based bank have increased during that period. HSBC, founded in 1865 in the British colony of Hong Kong, had most of its customer loans in Asia and Europe.
