Portugal: profit of food retailers 2023, by retailer

In Portugal, the net profit registered by MC Sonae, one of the biggest food retailers in the country, amounted to 222 million euros in 2021. By 2022, it decreased by 17 percent to 179 million euros. During the first three quarters of 2023, the retailer registered 135 million euros in profit.
Jerónimo Martins group registered higher values, namely 590 million euros in 2022, a 27.5 percent increase in relation to 2021. In the first nine months of 2023, the group achieved 558 million euros in profit.
