Of the 2,500 leading research and development (R&D) investing companies in 2022, the largest share within aerospace and defense, health, and ICT services was based in the United States. Moreover, Chinese companies dominates R&D spending on construction, amounting to more than half of the elading companies worldwide. Furthermore, companies based in the EU made up the largest share within energy and financial services. Looking at single companies, Alphabet spent the highest amount on R&D in 2022.
