Europe Business Confidence Index 2024 by country

Romania, Montenegro, and Portugal are the three European countries whose business communities display the greatest confidence going into 2024, according to the annual survey of the association of European chambers of commerce and industry. Slovenia, Lithuania, and Austria are the three European countries with the most pessimistic business communities in 2024, while the business communities of Germany and France, the largest economies in the group, were also negative about the economic prospects in the following year.

The Eurochambres business confidence index measures the difference between the share of positive and negative responses to the question of how national chamber of commerce members perceive their economic situation in the coming year. The index is calculated as the percentage of “Increase” minus the percentage of “Decrease”, all divided by the percentage of “Constant”.
