The three European countries with the greatest share of their business communities stating that they expect their number of employees to decrease over 2024 are Serbia, Austria, and Slovenia. Almost half of Serbian businesses believed they would have to lay off workers in 2024. By contrast, all businesses surveyed in Malta believed that they would either increase their number of employees or that their employment figures would remain unchanged during the year.
