Number of locations of popular supermarkets and convenience stores Australia 2024
As of February 2024, supermarket giant the Woolworths Group had 2,250 locations across Australia, including Woolworths Supermarkets, Ampol Woolworths, and EG Ampol locations. Grocery retail rival, the Coles Group, came in second, with over 1,550 locations nationwide, encompassing Coles Supermarkets and Coles Express. American convenience store chain 7-Eleven also had a high presence across the country, with almost 770 locations. European supermarket chains, Aldi and Spar, have also been slowly but surely making their way into Australia's supermarket scene over the past two decades, eating away at Woolworths, Coles, and IGA's grocery retail market shares.
