Cumulative forest-related carbon flux in Malaysia 2001-2022
Between 2001 and 2022, cumulative forest-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Malaysia totaled 5.2 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e). During this same period, forests in Malaysia absorbed some 2.4 GtCO₂e, giving net cumulative emissions of roughly 2.8 GtCO₂e. The dominant river of forest-related GHG emissions in Malaysia is commodity driven deforestation.
