U.S. net imports of crude oil and petroleum from OPEC countries account for less than seven percent of total consumption. Since 2000, the share of OPEC originated petroleum in the U.S. supply has notably decreased, falling from 26.3 percent in 2000 to 6.98 percent in 2019. As the U.S. has ramped up domestic production, imports from the OPEC have been declining accordingly.
