Chicago Bulls - additional information

Among many other records, the Chicago Bulls are the only team in NBA (National Basketball Association) history to win multiple championships (six titles in total) and never lose any NBA Finals. The team, which was founded in 1966 in Chicago, Illinois, plays in the NBA’s Central Division of the Eastern Conference. Although they are still considered one of the best teams in basketball, the Bulls were at their best between 1991 and 1998, when they won all of their championship titles. Much of their success in that era is due to head-coach Phil Jackson, as well as to players like Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan. The latter is one of NBA’s all-time scoring leaders, with over 32 thousand points scored in his career. Michael Jordan is considered by many to be the greatest basketball player of all times.

As of 2015, the Bulls are one of NBA’s most valuable franchises, with a total estimated value of two billion U.S. dollars, representing a two fold increase from the previous year. The revenue of the Chicago Bulls in the 2013/14 season was 201 million U.S. dollars, while the team’s operating income was in excess of 65 million U.S. dollars, the highest to date.

The Bulls’ Fan Cost Index, which thrives to calculate the cost for taking a family to a NBA game is one of the highest in NBA, just behind the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers. Chicago Bulls ticket prices for home games are some of the most expensive in the league, having reached an estimated 82.33 U.S. dollars in 2014/15. Nevertheless, the team has maintained a loyal fan base, both on the court and on social networks, such as facebook. In the 2014/2015 season they had an average of over 21 thousand spectators per game, totaling a regular season home attendance of 875 thousand.

Supplementary notes

The average ticket price represents a weighted average of season ticket prices for general seating categories, determined by factoring the tickets in each price range as a percentage of the total number of seats in each stadium. Premium seating (tickets that come with at least one added amenity) are not included in the ticket average and not included in the chart. Luxury suites are also excluded from the survey. Season-ticket pricing is used for any team that offers some or all tickets at lower prices for customers who buy season tickets.
