The New York Knicks is a National Basketball Association (NBA) franchise based in New York City. The franchise was one of the founding teams of the Basketball Association of America (BAA) in 1946, which later on became the NBA. Today, the team is owned by the Madison Square Garden Company, which also owns the WNBA’s New York Liberty basketball team. The Knicks franchise has played in a total of eight NBA Finals, winning the NBA championship in 1970 and 1973.
