They were asked to rate thie life quality for both points in time on a scale from 1 (worst possible life) to 10 (best possible life). On this scale, the surveyed muslims rated their current life with 7 points and their life in five years with 8.4 points.

The source posed the question as follows: "Please imagine a ladder with steps numbered from zero at the bottom to ten at the top. Suppose we say that the top of the ladder represents the best possible life for you, and the bottom of the ladder represents the worst possible life for you. On which step of the ladder would you say you personally feel you stand at this time, assuming that the higher the step the better you feel about your life,
and the lower the step the worse you feel about it? Which step comes closest to the way you feel? Just your best guess, on which step do you think you will stand in the future, say about five years from now?"

Protestants: 158,109 respondents
Catholics: 102,396 respondents
Jews: 10,449 respondents
Muslims: 1,492 respondents
Mormons: 8,002 respondents
No religious affiliation / atheists /agnostics: 56,440 respondents.
