Leading domestic films in China 2022, by box office revenue
For three consecutive years, historical war films have claimed the first spot in China's annual box office. The Battle at Lake Changjin II was the most successful domestic movie in China in 2022, generating about 4.07 billion yuan in box office revenue. Its first instalment brought in 5.8 billion yuan in the previous year while The Eight Hundred, another locally produced war movie, was the highest grossing title in 2020 with 3.1 billion yuan of cinema ticket sales.
