Number of movie tickets sold in China 2010-2022
In 2022, about 712 million tickets were sold at movie theaters in China, representing around 41 percent of the pre-pandemic sales amount in 2019. Hollywood blockbusters found it hard to compete with Chinese domestically produced films which accounted for about 85 percent of the local movie market.
