Proved coal reserves in Mexico by type 2010-2020
Mexico's coal proved reserves amounted to roughly 1.2 billion metric tons in 2020. During the period in consideration, anthracite and bituminous reserves were considerable greater than sub-bituminous and lignite reserves, and since 2016, this difference became even more noticeable. As of 2020, Mexico's anthracite and bituminous reserves accounted for around 96 percent from the country's total coal reserves.
