China's primary energy consumption amounted to some 170.7 exajoules in 2023, an increase of around 6.5 percent in comparison to the previous year. Between 2000 and 2023, consumption of primary energy in the East Asian country grew by nearly 130 exajoules, reaching a peak in the latter year.
