It can be seen that the proportion of social rented households decreased during this period, from a share of 19.5 percent of households in 2000 to a share of 17 percent of households as of 2018. A decrease of 2.5 percent over the period of 18 years. The largest share of social rented households in England during the period under observation was found in the years 2000 and 2001, when a total of almost 20 percent of all households were recorded as social rented.
