As of Fall 2018, 17 percent of teenage boys in the United States were starting to wear Adidas apparel. Adidas is a German company that designs and manufactures shoes, clothing, and accessories. It was the second largest sportswear manufacturer in the United States after Nike.

Nike and Adidas both benefit from being in the category of athletic wear, which is a very popular clothing category among teens. Adidas has been making an impact in the United States by collaborating with hip-hop stars from the country, such as Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. Kanye West’s YEEZY shoe brand with Adidas has become so popular that a pair could be resold for up to 747 U.S. dollars. As an American clothing brand, Nike has remained a staple in American households, holding an 18.3 percent share of the country’s sportswear market. Ralph Lauren is a mid-range to luxury brand and its products are generally more expensive than Nike, Vans, and Adidas.
