* 2,200 independently owned convenience store businesses and 5852 multiple chain convenience stores (results collated and combined).
The source states "Respondents to the Independents survey were asked to say how many people of each demographic they had working in their stores (from 0 to 15+). The number of stores which responded for each number was then multiplied to achieve a total number of each demographic for the sample. Subsequently, the total results for unaffiliated independents, symbol group members and multiples were collated and combined according to their proportion of stores in the market, in order to determine overall results for the sector."
