Total imports amounted to 762 million British pounds with a slightly larger share coming from non-European countries. Overall, coffee imports to the UK have been growing in value during the past years with a noticeable increase from 2013 onwards.
A changing market
The UK, usually considered to be a country of tea drinkers, is changing. The consumption of tea per person per week has dropped in the past ten years from 30 to 20 grams. While tea consumption is down, coffee consumption is up by six grams. The shift is carried by the changing tastes of the younger generations.
