This statistic shows outstanding borrowing of political parties in the United Kingdom as of June 30, 2017 in British pounds, by party. The Liberal democrats had the highest loans figure, with 912 thousand pounds borrowed. The Conservative and Unionist Party had the highest overall figure with roughly 6.5 million pounds in loans and credit. In contrast, the Labour Party had less debt than the Conservative and Unionist Party at 860,193 British pounds. Overall more than 10 million British pounds were borrowed by political parties in loans or credits. By comparison, donation figures for political parties show them to have received 18 million British pounds, with the Labour Party obtaining almost double the amount donated to the Conservative and Unionist Party at 8.2 million British pounds.
