Air France KLM: passenger numbers 2014-2018 From June 2014 to June 2018, the number of passengers uplifted by the Air France-KLM group remained under the eight million passenger threshold for the respective four years. In June 2018, this French-Dutch airline holding group registered a four-year record, with a total of approximately 7.75 million passengers uplifted, out of which, 2.38 million were long-haul passengers and roughly 5.37 million were travelling short to medium distances.
The Air France and the KLM expanded their capacity after their fusion in 2004

The Air France-KLM airline company was established on May 2004 as a result from the fusion of the French Air France and the Dutch KLM. Although the two airlines still fly under their original names they’re both subsidiaries of the same parent company. This fusion represented for both companies an increase of their airplane fleet as well as an increase of their flight destinations. As of December 2017, the Air France-KLM disposed of 344 airplanes from the Air France Group and 201 airplanes from the KLM Group. Most of them were medium-haul airplanes: 236 medium-haul aircrafts in total. This fusion might have increased their fleet and flight capacity, but the annual revenues have only but modestly increased since 2010. In 2012, the revenue from the Air France-KLM amounted to roughly 25.68 billion euros, five years later, the total revenue was estimated at around 25.78 billion euros.

The increase of fuel prices in 2018 and the recent strikes had a negative impact on the airline’s performance in 2018

In the light of recent strikes and an increase of fuel prices, the Air France-KLM reported a 382 million euro decrease of their operating result (EBIT). According to the company their EBIT amount to 994 million euros at the end of 2018. According to Bloomberg, one of the key problems would be the propensity to strike. In 2010, the French Ministry of Labor reported 318 days of strike per 1.000 employees. On the other end, in 2018, 83 percent of the employees in the Netherlands reported never having participated in a strike .
