The number of cars sold on the German market peaked in this period at 3.8 million units in 2009, but by 2010 the number of vehicles sold had fallen by over 850 thousand units. After this drop in the number of annually sold passenger cars in Germany. from 3.8 million in 2009 to approximately 2.95 million in 2013, the numbers began to rise again. Between 2009 and 2013, the sale of passengers cars in Germany dropped by almost 22.5 percent. From 2013 to 2017, the numbers increased again, growing from the low point in 2013 to more than 3.44 million sold cars in 2017.
