Health care was the best performing sector for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States in 2020, which was unsurprising due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The average IPO returns for this sector was 89 percent, which was 14 percent more than the average. The lowest returns were in the communication services sector, where the average returns amounted to 25 percent.
