Espresso machine usage among U.S. past day coffee drinkers 2010-2019

In 2019, about 12 percent of U.S. survey respondents, who were asked about the preparation method they used for their past-day coffee consumption, reported having used an espresso machine. Usage of this machine has fluctuated considerably since 2010, standing at only one percent in 2011 and peaking at 15 percent in 2017.

U.S. employee coffee satisfaction

Some 40 percent of employees working in the United States were very satisfied with the coffee preparation options provided at work in 2019. Only about five percent of workers were dissatisfied with their workplace coffee options. However, most coffee was drunk at home that year: people in the United States drank an average of 1.35 cups of coffee per day at home, while about one-fifth of a cup was drunk at work.

Coffee preparation by package format

When purchasing coffee, the product can come in various package formats. Just over 40 percent of U.S. consumers bought their coffee in a pre-packaged bag in 2019. The metal or plastic can, and pre-measured capsules or disks were also prevalent formats that year.
