In 2019, the French press (or plunger) system was used by about two percent of coffee drinkers in the United States for their past-day consumption. Usage for this particular brewing method has stayed relatively stable since 2010, remaining between one and three percent over the last nine years.

Instant coffee drinkers in the United States

Another way in which coffee was frequently prepared in 2019 was by means of instant coffee. That year about seven percent of U.S. consumers used instant coffee from a can or a jar for their coffee the day before. Instant coffee stick packs were generally less popular than cans or jars over the last nine years: roughly one percent of coffee consumers drank coffee made with stick packs in 2019.

Cold brew coffee

In recent years, cold brew coffee has been gaining a lot of traction. In 2019, about five percent of consumers in the United States stated they regularly drink cold brew coffee, while 15 percent reported that they drink it on occasion. Some 46 percent of consumers in the United States had heard of cold brew coffee before but were yet to try it.
